Ms. Isabel Burns a lady from Salt Lake City, it is said to have
boarded a train heading east looking for new adventures. She received a small inheritance, and her goal was to open a House of ill
repute.
She found herself in Kemmerer Wyoming, where her establishment would stand for over 7 decades of existence in the small community as a brothel. The existence of the house was know to those local and those far away. So if you wandered in to the Southern Hotel, you might find yourself in the company of a lady of the night.

There was a new sheriff in town trying to make himself a new name and get elected. On January 17th of 1967 Lincoln county's newly elected sheriff closed the hotel because it was a violation of Wyoming law on the houses of ill fame. It was the end of an era.
